Source: Oregon silences bakers who refused to make cake for gay wedding | Fox News

I’m really getting tired of being right on things like this.  The basics of this story is that the bakers were fined $135,000 for refusing to bake the wedding cake for a gay wedding.  From everything I’ve been able to learn – and I’ve followed this story since it originally broke, this particular case, at least, is a real religious objection.

In addition to the fine, though, Oregon slapped a gag order on the couple prohibiting them from even talking about the case.  Yes, not only the religious liberty side of the First Amendment has been compromised, but their free speech rights have been excluded as well.  In this case, there is no compelling interest for shutting them up except that it is politically embarrassing for the State of Oregon.  This is the precise reason that the First Amendment exists.

That we even know about this, means that they have obviously violated the order.  The good news is that according to the couple God is providing for them.  However, they have had to ask themselves will they be willing to be jailed for their belief in God.  Their answer is, “Yes.”  What’s yours?

A married Montana man has taken his wife and his girlfriend to the Yellowstone County Courthouse and told the clerk: Marry us – if the Supreme Court OK’d “gay” unions, then we should be allowed to join together in holy polygamy.“It’s about marriage equality,” said Nathan Collier, who filed for a marriage application to two […]

Mere days after hearing how we are being paranoid about how the Supreme Court opinion on gay marriage would lead to polygamy, this story comes out.

The reason for defending marriage has nothing to do with (more…)

The president of the Southern Baptist Convention has a message regarding the looming Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage: We will not obey.

Now that it is coming to the point of stand for what God teaches or lose your job, your home or even your freedom – as in jail – here in America, it will be interesting to see how many people are Christians-in-name-only.

Flower Power: Christian florist rejects attorney general’s offer, won’t betray her religious beliefs | Fox News.

This is a story to keep an eye on.  I know, they not beheading Christians here in the U.S.  They are only fining, putting us out of business, expelling us from school, potentially taking our home and even threatening us with jail.  Remember, though, that’s also how it started in the Middle East.  14 years ago, Christians were living in peace next to their Muslim neighbors in Syria, Iraq and even Egypt.  Today, they are being crucified.

Keep this woman in your prayers.  Ask yourself what you are going to do when you have to make her choice.

This is what happens when Christians keep silent in our society.  The world steps in and demands that you either reject God or be destroyed.  Remember that this is no different than tolerating Winter break rather than Christmas.  I don’t understand why so many Christians are afraid of offending someone.  The reality is, that fact that you are a believer and exist is sufficient to give offense.  To be seen is even worse.  To be heard – especially in our schools and universities – is rapidly becoming a crime.  This is spiritual warfare at its worst.

This may be seen as more political than I normally allow The Christian Geek to be, however this is extremely relevant to the scope of the site.  It has huge implications to both religious speech and it is one of the top tech issues of the day.  You really need to read Mr. Crovitz article.  It puts the issue out very clearly.
L. Gordon Crovitz: From Internet to Obamanet – WSJ.

What you have to keep in mind here is that he mentions both critical impact areas of what he calls “Obamanet” (I like that phrase…)  The most important thing to take away is that these are regulations being passed to fix a problem that does not exist.

Everyone keeps focusing on the economics.   Yes, problems have threatened, but market pressures have prevented them from coming about.  Market forces have kept the internet working smoothly and more responsively than government could ever possibly do.  Yet this is not the real danger of the impending federal regulations.

The real danger of these regulations is (more…)
